the walls in this hospital keep twisting again

keep time, as we grow old
fortified by panels, every morning it plays any song
and those little green numbers kept marching on
past when I started that new job
in '82 or '83 when it was still just us

not to say this wouldn't make for a good story-

but still- this belongs in the space beyond the page

power lines buzzing still

but it wasn't over, you slipped away
it wasn't over until you took the easy way out
we are broken shadows
we will be left hungry
we will break and shatter
we are never complete
and all these shattered pieces
sing a broken chorus,
"one day we will be made whole"
it's been so long it might be too far gone
don't tell me that it's all too far gone
